 Run Like the Wind!

When I was a kid growing up in the Hill Country of Texas I always dreamed of having horses.

I would play like I was a horse to the dismay of my teachers and my Mom.

Mom would make me pretty dresses with yards and yards of skirt, and a huge bow in the back. I would catch my heel on the hem, and tear it during recess.

I loved to Run Like the Wind!!

I would lie and tell people I owned a horse. He was always fast, and free and ready for anything and everything.

I was like my pretend horse. I was always ready for anything and everything. Bless my parents. I know they did'nt have a clue what to do with me.

I would put my sweater over my head and it was my mane. At home, I would use my PJ's. I would toss my head, and Run Like the Wind.

I could even make a sound like a horse. Now was'nt that just the cats meow?

Did you ever pretend you were something that you were'nt? Were you dwelt a hand you did'nt want either. Being a lady was not what I had in mind...

 I Love Christmas!

I can't remember never not loving Christmas... My parents always made it such a joyous, family affair with Santa and Church and Church plays and Caroling. My Dad would work over-time at the Post Office for my brothers and my Santa Claus.

Not until my children were born, did I feel a sense of sadness because their Dad was not into Childrens Christmases. He was the opposite of my Dad.

My children never complained, but I always wanted them to have Christmas like I did. He did'nt get into his childrens birthdays either. Did not want to spend money at all. Always thought he would have made a wonderful Jehovah Witness. Not celebrate anything.

In spite of him, we did however celebrate everything!!

When my daughter was growing up, I was a teacher in our Church and the girls would meet on a Saturday, and we would make fruit baskets.

We would decorate them and take them to our shut ins and elderly of our Church. The girls would sing a song, and one of them would volunteer to say a prayer. We would get back in our van and go to the next home of a sweet couple or widow or widower. It was such fun watching 3rd graders thru high school, pray, and sing. Everybody always got along so well. We would eat at the local Dairy Queen for lunch. It would take all day.......People of the Church would donate fruit, nuts, and money for the girls all to get a nice meal.

I did this for 13 years, and the first year after I had gone to work on Saturdays, due to divorce, those precious little girls, most I had taught since third grade, came to my place of work one Saturday afternoon, and brought me a fruit basket, and sang me a song, and said a prayer for me. I cried, and hugged them, and missed getting to work with them. To this day I will never forget those precious little girls, some I had seen saved, and baptised... This was what Christmas is all about.

Giving, Caring and Loving!!!! Christmas brings out the best in most people.....

Friday Five and Thanks for the Memories

My husband and I had a very quite Thanksgiving!

#1. I cooked a small hen and dressing with gravy and mashed potatoes. Made a Fruit Salad and baked candied yams. Opened a can of leseur peas and cranberry sauce and made a small pumpkin pie and a pecan pie. And we still have some tomatoes from the garden, plus stuffed some mushrooms. YOU SHOULD HEAR WHAT I DO WHEN WE HAVE COMPANY! I have never learned how to cook for two.

#2. My son called from Pennsylvania, and he and his precious wife were there visiting a friend from here. They both ended up a couple of hundred miles from each other. Both married and no children.. His Dad was a mentor to my son. He died when my son was in Alaska.

They were going to get on a train today and go to a State Park in Jersey and spend a couple of nights. Cool! It was so good to hear his voice, and so glad he was with friends!

#3. My Mom had a dear friend that my bro met in college over 30 years ago come and spend the night. She cooked for him Thanksgiving Day. He is an Indian from the Dakotas and teaches Karate and is a professor at Texas State. He adopted us years ago.

When my kids were little, they always told their friends, they never had a Thanksgiving without an Indian. He is swell, and like a brother. My niece and nephew are his God Children. He lived with My Mom while he was out of college in the summers, and Mom refused to take money from him. After graduation he started sending my Mom $50 a month, then $100 after a few years. Still does to this day!!

#4. My bro and sis in law had their kids to fly in and spend some time with them this week in Little Rock. My sis in law had her Stem Cell Tuesday, and this week has been very hard on her. Her kids helped alot, as her Dr. said seeing them would be excellant medicine.

I will go Monday to stay with them. My niece and nephew have finals Monday at A&M, so my niece will leave Sunday am. My nephew and his girl friend left Thanksgiving, and will go see my Mom today. They are great kids.
They are thrilled A&M beat Texas, and we are so very sad!!!

#5. My precious daughter, handsome son in law and Our beautiful baby Alex came Thanksgiving Afternoon and we had a wonderful visit. They had gone to be with her Dad at his step moms for Thanksgiving Dinner. First holiday without my X Father in law, and the family needed to get together. She was full of hellos for me from X sister in laws and nieces and X mother in law.
They stayed late! God is Good.

THANK YOU SWEET JESUS FOR ALL OF MY BLESSINGS: THESE PEOPLE ARE SO PRECIOUS TO ME, AND I PRAY YOU WILL WRAP YOUR ARMS AROUND THEM ALL, AND BLESS THEM ABUNDANTLY!
AND THANK YOU FOR ALL MY MEMORIES!
