My X Husband finially left in October,(19 years ago) and a brand new world was opened up to me. I made a few mistakes along the way, but for the most part, I did OK....... Just a few hundred regrets, but what the hay......Who does'nt have regrets? Right?

October Rocks!!!!!!

Our little community has a Fall Fest in October, and we have a day of a golf tournament; booths of all kinds; chili cookoff; Church Bazaars; Bands; and a Saturday night Dance.....Fun for the whole fam.

The Texas OU Game is my husbands and my favorite thing. Going to the Texas Fair, and hopefully seeing Texas win. Win, Lose or Draw, we bled orange.......Hookem Horns!!!!!

October is busy! busy!

 Sweet Streamers!

Even if the temp is 90 degrees today, and will be for all the weekend and coming week, we KNOW its FALL because the Fairs have begun......

The nights are beginning to be crisp and cool, and you can smell the beginning of the Fall season.

The ACs are still running, and we are still wearing shorts, but we all have that feeling deep down that soon, leaves will start turning, and football games will be bearable....

I love hearing from the Streamers what is going on where they live, and how the weather, and their lives are....I love their photos!!!

It amazes me that I could get so involved in lives of people I will never meet. There is a bond with many that I cannot explain, and I really don't want too......

I'm beginning the Autumn of my life with many interesting, caring and very talented friends, I did not know this time last year, or even a few months ago......

I am whistling Dixie!!!! I am grinning like a Dead Pig in the Sunshine!!!!!! And I do feel like Ned and the First Reader!!!!!

Thank you Sweet Streamers!!!!!! God Bless!!!!!!!

 My Sister In Law, KAREN

My sister in law is probably the most perfect, special, kind and considerate person I have ever known.

She is most assuredly the BEST Daughter, my Mom ever had.....

Karen, my sister in laws name, married my Bro almost 30 years ago, and has lived eight miles from my Mom the whole time.

I THANK MY GOD UPON EVERY REMEMBRACE OF YOU. Phil: 1:3

When she and my Bro married, she made seven bridesmaid dresses, and two jr. bridesmaid dresses.

After they married, she made his Leisure Suits. Her gardens are beautiful, and she makes her own catsup...I have never seen anything she could not or would not try to do........

She helps my brother during calving season, and taught school for 33 years. She was a counselor, and a darn good one at that. High School.......... She and my brother were quite a team, as he retired as superintendant.

They both love to cook, and barbeque for their little community, weddings and just for fun.....

Both of their kids, a girl, and a boy are in Vet school, and doing great. They are both beautiful, well adjusted young adults. The boy will graduate in three semesters, and the girl is right behind him.

BUT HERE IS THE CATCH:
My sister in law was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma two years ago. Was in remission for about a year and ahalf, and it has returned with a vengence....I am just sick.

BUT THEY THAT WAIT UPON THE LORD SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENTH; THEY SHALL MOUNT UP WITH WINGS AS EAGLES; THEY SHALL RUN, AND NOT BE WEARY; AND THEY SHALL WALK, AND NOT FAINT....Isaiah 41:31

She and my little Bro will go back to Little Rock to the Multiple Myeloma Institute that Sam Walton, of the Walmart clan founded. He died of Multiple Myeloma...... They have an apartment for three months...She starts her third stem cell this week.........

I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENETH ME. Phil: 4:6

We are not giving up.....Karen will go into remission again, God willing, and our family will come thru this A OK..

It is just so hard to see her and my Bro have to go thru this again. They are both very spiritual and God fearing people. They love the Lord, and know he is in control...

The 18 months she was in remission, they went to Rome, cruised Hawaii, and Alaska, and took a couple of cruises out of Galveston. They are trying to pack as much as possible in what time they may have.

THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE; I WILL BE GLAD AND REJOICE IN IT.

Guess we all should do that....But they have always lived large, and enjoyed their places in Utah, Colorado and the coast of Texas. They still want to go to Europe, and I pray they get too.

I've never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. She has taught my family what true love is, and shown us unselfish and unconditional love......

LET YOUR CONVERSATION BE WITHOUT COVETOUSNESS; AND BE CONTENT WITH SUCH THINGS AS YE HAVE; FOR HE HATH SAID, I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE. Hebrews 13:5

*******************************************************************
Karen took this picture of THE FOUR GENERATIONS, and told me, "I hope I get to hold a grandchild someday too......"

I pray with all my heart she does.

 Enough?

Every Labor Day Weekend for many years my husband and I go up into the hills of Arkansas, and stay at a beautiful Lodge we have grown to love. It is much cooler and the hiking and walking and visiting is just our cup of tea. The valley below is breathtaking, and some mornings the Lodge would be wrapped in the clouds........

Each year an old man would sit with us and other guests on the huge wrap around porch and play his harmonica. He is quite good, and would always take requests. His wife would hover over him, and make sure he was comfortable, and then she would go inside and sit in the big room where people played card games and dominoes.

This year the old man was not there. I missed him very much....
He had become part of the fixtures so to speak for so many years, and the weekend was just not the same.

It made me think, would I be missed someday when I did'nt show up? Have I contributed anything to this life that would be missed by someone? What kind of a fixture am I?

Since I have retired, I keep asking myself the same questions. Am I doing enough for mankind? Am I making a difference in this life? I know that God is in control, but am I doing enough for him?

The old man always seemed so at peace with himself, and enjoyed making us all smile, and clap our hands!

How will I know when I have done enough? Or do we go thru our lives always trying to do more...Are some of us never at peace?
